We are thrilled to host a house party fundraiser for Jess King. Jess King is a respected local leader who has spent her entire career doing equitable community development work and supporting working people to start small businesses in Pennsylvania.

Jess is running as a Democrat for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 16th District (Lancaster County) currently represented by first term Republican Lloyd Smucker. Districts like PA-16 are going to be the key to winning back the House in 2018.

Jess is currently a Local Economy Fellowship with BALLE, where Judy Wicks has gotten to know her well as a tireless advocate for just and sustainable local economies. Steve Masters has been working with Jess for the past few months as her election lawyer and has been very impressed with her as a candidate and with the campaign team she's assembled to win the primary.

Here's why: Jess is a life-long resident of Lancaster and a social impact entrepreneur who has a very impressive track record of transformational social impact work in Lancaster through her organization ASSETS, which she has led since 2010.

Her leadership has been recognized with “Jessica King Day in the City of Pittsburgh,” Pittsburgh’s 40 under 40, Lancaster’s Ethics in Business Award, the Red Rose Award, and the Friend of Workforce Award and Baldwin Fellowship.  She served as a Commissioner on Lancaster Mayor Rick Gray’s Commission to Combat Poverty, and spearheads the Coalition to Combat Poverty’s Private Sector Working Group.

We have already seen the "blue wave" have a great effect in Lancaster County. Many see this part of the state as a Republican stronghold, but after the recent elections, that's no longer true.

Some highlights include:

Democrats sweeping the Manheim Township School Board, getting more votes than all 3 incumbent Republicans on the Borough Council for Millersville, and continuing to dominate Lancaster City & Reading City elections. Democrats won these races by focusing on the issues and knocking thousands of doors and that's exactly what Jess' campaign will do.

There's a growing progressive majority of working families, immigrants, and young people that can flip this district in 2018. Jess is building and mobilizing that majority with a campaign focused on Medicare for All, debt free public college, and protecting our immigrant brothers and sisters.

Our house party will be on Sunday, December 17th, from 5pm-7pm at the home of Steve Masters and Beulah Trey, 621 W Mount Airy Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19119.

Jess will share her vision for the campaign at the event, and be available for Q&A. We’ll have light refreshments and drinks.

We really hope you can join us to learn more about her campaign!

We aren't asking for a minimum donation since so many of us haven't had an opportunity to meet Jess yet. Once you've met her, we're sure you'll want to make a generous contribution to her campaign with this online donation link!

Be sure to RSVP by clicking on the register button so we'll know to expect you.
